The second largest downtown in the country, the Loop is a neighborhood alive with commerce, entertainment, gourmet restaurants and some of the city’s most breathtaking skyscrapers. These include Chicago’s tallest building, the Sears Tower, and second-tallest building, the Aon Center. The Loop also features Chicago’s LaSalle Street financial district overseen by the statue of Ceres atop the Chicago Board of Trade building, and State Street, that “great street.” The area is a treasure trove of architecturally significantly office buildings designed by Louis Sullivan, Mies van der Rohe, Helmut Jahn and others.

Residential real estate opportunities in the Loop have multiplied in the last few years as suburban residents seek the convenience and excitement of downtown living. Residents live primarily in spectacular high-rise condo buildings that offer panoramic views of the lakefront and the skyline.

The Loop teems with amenities and activities. Historic Grant Park, with its beautiful Buckingham Fountain, has been joined by the artistically adventurous Millennium Park, home of “Cloudgate,” the sparklingly original sculpture by Anish Kapoor, and the Frank Gehry bandshell. Cultural opportunity is everywhere, from the recently renovated Harold Washington Cultural Center, to the world-renowned Art Institute of Chicago and the city’s “museum campus” encompassing the Field Museum of Natural History, the Adler Planetarium and the Shedd Aquarium.

The Near East Side neighborhood is multi-use area east of Michigan Avenue and north of the Chicago River. The community includes a booming business district including the Aon Center, Prudential Plaza and Illinois Center, and is experiencing an influx of new construction, primarily high-rise condominiums featuring spectacular views of the lakefront and Millennium and Grant Parks. Printer’s Row, located at the southern edge of the Loop, is a community consisting largely of elegantly rehabbed printing and production structures converted into spacious condos, as well as a vital restaurant and entertainment area.
