North Lawndale, situated west of Pilsen and south of Garfield Park, is currently in the early stages of real estate revitalization. Historically the home of retail giant Sears, Roebuck & Company, the neighborhood is enjoying excellent growth as more and more businesses are moving back into the area. In addition, new construction and new developments continue to replace vacant lots, making the community a neighborhood of great potential. Its still affordable real estate prices are making North Lawndale increasingly attractive to a growing number of first-time homebuyers.
South Lawndale encompasses the Little Village neighborhood, and the pocket neighborhood of Marshall Square, which is home to the historic Marshall Square Theater, an art-deco masterpiece that now functions as a banquet facility and music venue featuring some of Chicago's most exciting music. From June to October each year, the community also hosts the popular Lawndale Chicago Farmer's Market.
