This second weekend in April brings the first weekend of the baseball season! And along with it, we’ll see some pretty Saturday weather and (hopefully!) the true beginning of Spring! Owners of Chicago real estate should, of course, take advantage of the huge variety of activities our city has to offer. Here are some weekend events perfect for real estate owners experiencing their first Chicago spring or who have been here their whole lives.
Events
For art lovers who missed First Friday at the MCA, you can take part in Second Friday in the Pilsen Arts District. 30 art galleries in Pilsen/little Village around South Halsted and 18th Streets open their doors for receptions at 6pm on Friday night!
If you like theater, surfing, Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves or any combination of the four, check out Point Break Live this weekend at the La Costa Theater in Irving Park. The interactive “extreme-theater” show lets one audience member play the role of FBI agent Johnny Utah and help stop the bad guys!
Restaurants
New on the scene this week is Ciao Napoli Pizzeria, a Logan Square pizza joint focusing on Naples-style grub, including thin crust pizzas, gnocchi and other homemade pastas. Almost all the ingredients are imported from Italy for an authentic dining experience.
Wrigleyville favorite Uberstein just reopened in its second location in Bucktown. The beerhall serves up authentic Hofbrauhaus beer straight from Munich and now serves Chicagoans in two neighborhoods.
Lakeview welcomes a reopened location for sports enthusiasts. From the successful team behind the Cubby Bear, we now have Sports Corner’s newly refurbished location on Addison. After a massive overhaul, the bar’s open for Cubs season so swing by and see the changes!
Movies
On Sunday, take in a Jeff Bridges double feature at the Brew and View. You can see his Oscar winning performance in Crazy Heart and then his equally genius comic performance as The Dude in the Coen Brothers’ The Big Lebowski.
For families, check out the animated flick How to Train Your Dragon from DreamWorks studios. The film has gotten overwhelmingly great reviews from parents and kids alike and is supposed to be as good as the family-classic, E.T.
