Beautiful weather is in the works this weekend, and March Madness is nearing its climax. What more can you ask for from a Chicago weekend? We think it will be a great time to relax, watch sports and sit on your favorite restaurant’s patio. Here are ideas for what else to fill your weekend with!

Events
Of course, we’ll always recommend First Friday at the MCA. Before the big basketball semifinal games on Saturday, indulge in the arts with the after-work mixer at the Museum of Contemporary Art. You can unwind with some cocktails, music, good company and beautiful art. April’s theme is “Spring Fling.”

If you are new to Chicago real estate, or you just don’t have a favorite hangout in your neighborhood yet, check out this list of the best patios in Chicago. You can find out which ones are open this weekend and will be the best location for your outdoor brunch or happy hour!

Red Canary River West

The Red Canary in the River West area has a comfortable, ivy-lined patio.

Restaurants
Boystown vegetarian staple Chicago Diner will be celebrating its 27th year in business throughout this week. Each day has a different sandwich-and-drink special for about $8, and they will delight herbivores and carnivores alike! The diner carries organic wines and local beers to match their healthy fare.

Newly opened this week is Aldino’s, an authentic Italian eatery in the Little Italy/University Village area.  The new restaurant has a dining room for a sit-down dinner of Italian comfort food, as well as a more casual, market-like area serving sandwiches, salads and pizzas.

The team behind Aldino’s has also been responsible for Chicago successes like 312 Chicago and the Mia Francesca chain, and they expect that 80% of their new eatery’s ingredients will be sourced from a 100-mile radius. You can support delicious local eating — plus, they’ll be open for Easter brunch this weekend!

Movies
If you missed seeing Robert Downey, Jr.’s Golden Globe-winning performance in Sherlock Holmes, check it out at Brew & View at The Vic Theater this Sunday in Lakeview. Also showing are the 2010 Oscar nominated and winning animated short films.

If you have yet to see a movie in 3D, check out Clash of the Titans for an incredible 3D movie experience and great CGI special effects. Seasoned performers Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes helm the remake of the classic good and evil story in the major roles of Zeus and Hades.
