Highs in the mid-40s this weekend make it a great time to get out and take advantage of the city! For owners of Chicago real estate, a lack of clouds and snow in early March means a celebration.  How can you take to the town this weekend? Here are our suggestions for things to try around Chicago.

Events
If the sunny weekend has you feeling particularly fortunate, why not spend some time helping those in our city who are less fortunate than you? You can eat dinner, explore the Lincoln Square art scene, and contribute to a charitable cause at the Empty Bowls Dinner, Friday at the Lillstreet Art Center from 5-8pm. Just $20 will buy you a bowl, specially made by a local potter, filled with soup and bread from First Slice Pie Cafe. Proceeds benefit the Cafe as well, an organization combating hunger in Chicago by providing wholesome, hearty and comforting meals to families around the city. Eat a great meal, take home a new bowl, and help the community!

For Chicago-area homeowners who are interested in home improvement, swing by the Home Show Event in Lincolnshire this weekend for an expo of home improvement, remodeling and landscaping services. It’s a great place to meet and learn more about local contractors before you hire them! At the Lincolnshire Marriott, you’ll find hundreds of national and local companies gathered together to showcase their goods and services all weekend. Admission is free!

Downtown in Chicago this weekend, step outside on Friday to see the 5th Annual Chiditarod race. Costumed teams of five race through Chicago on grocery carts while gathering as many canned goods as they can– “One part food drive, one part pub-crawl, one part costumed race, all parts radtacular.” You can register for the race on Friday, or just watch, cheer on the racers and donate to the cause.

Restaurants
For those who work in the Loop, Primebar is a new location for lunch, happy hour, dinner or late night drinks! From the owners of various Bar Louie’s through the city and Midtown Kitchen & Bar, this new Wacker Drive eatery serves up fun and funky food like beet lollipops and Sriracha-spiced deviled eggs and has local beers from Metropolitan, Three Floyds and Two Brothers on tap.

An old Wrigleyville favorite for lovers of country music and a casual atmosphere, Houndstooth Saloon celebrates its grand reopening all weekend in a new, larger location one block south. The bar kept its classic sports-enthusiast feel and now has a party room with booths and table taps. A great place to catch a game or eat a pulled pork sandwich this weekend!

Movies
Well, it’s Oscar weekend! With the Academy Awards on Sunday, what movies should watch? How about all 10 of the best picture nominees? You can do it at the AMC River East theater in Streeterville, from Friday at midnight to Saturday at midnight.

When you own Chicago real estate, and it’s sunny and relatively warm in the city, there are tons of activities to check out. You can explore the city, give back to your fellow citizens and enjoy yourself this weekend– just try one of the events above!
