This weekend, you might be thrilled about Valentine’s Day or you might be totally dreading it. Either way, we’ve got some great activities for you to try in and around Chicago real estate.
Events
If you’re in the mood for sarcastic, snarky humor instead of romance this weekend… we don’t blame you! You can see the stand-up of Sandra Bernhard all weekend at the Lakeshore Theater in Lakeview, or check out the very funny Lewis Black at the Chicago Theater on Friday.
For luxury car lovers, head to the south side of Chicago to see the Chicago Auto Show
If you are single and on the prowl this Valentine’s Day, try this event in Lakeview– “Meet Your Next Ex!” Rebel Bar & Grill in Wrigleyville invites you to mingle and send anonymous notes to anyone who catches your eye on Friday at 8 pm.
Restaurants
Filter in Wicker Park is a comfy place to grab a cup of coffee this weekend. With thrift-store-chic decor and a new location built to be as green as possible, you can enjoy your caffeine in a relaxed atmosphere without worrying about your carbon footprint. Or try newly-opened Buzz: Killer Espresso also in Wicker Park for a serious cup of fancy espresso. The house roast comes courtesy of Madcap Coffee Company in Grand Rapids, MI.
For dinner, try the new warehouse district eatery Prairie Fire. The James Beard Award-winning owners of Prairie Grass Cafe in Northbrook have opened this West Loop spot that will also serve weekend brunch. You can expect a seasonal New American menu and the great cocktails provided by the mixologist from Prairie Grass Cafe as well. After their soft opening last weekend, all the kinks should be sorted out for a great Valentine’s Day dinner this weekend!
Movies
If you love Adam Sandler’s classic comedies, or somehow managed to live through the ’90s without seeing them, swing by The Vic Theater this weekend for their Brew & View Special. Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore and The Wedding Singer are all showing and will keep you laughing!
So whether you’re celebrating Mardi Gras, Presidents’ Day, Valentine’s Day or Chinese New Year (or all of them!) during this eventful weekend, try to make some time for these highly recommended activities around your home city of Chicago. You can enjoy this snowy February weekend with or without a designated Valentine!
