Events
Get out of your Chicago condo and take the family out to a fantastic event going on now at the Chicago Theatre, Cirque du Soleil’s Banana Shpeel. Banana Shpeel is getting great reviews and should be fun that the whole family to enjoy. Tickets start at $23.
Finish up your holiday shopping at The Promenade Bolingbrook, then stay to watch the Symphony of Lights starting at 6pm daily.
If you didn’t check it out last week, take the kids to see the Wonderland Express, a 10,000-square-foot exhibit with tiny trains winding through more than 80 miniature Chicago landmarks at the Chicago Botanic Gardens. The exhibit opens at 10am on the weekends, but get there early and from 8:30 to 10:30 you can have breakfast with Santa!
Restaurants
A huge new restaurant- Park Place, located in Edison Park- features traditional American food such as meatloaf, cedar plank salmon, burgers and steaks. This place is great for banquets with seating for over 300 people and room for 200 hundred in the bar.
The Elysian Hotel features two new restaurants, an exclusive dinner only restaurant Ria which offers seasonal, globally influenced menu, and Balsan, a more casual breakfast, lunch and dinner spot centered on artisanal comfort food.
Movies
Stay out of the cold and go see Avatar this weekend! It’s already being called one of the best movies of the year and has been nominated for the Best Picture Golden Globe!
Disney Adventure The Princess and the Frog is also playing and should be a big hit with any little girl who dreamed of being a princess or meeting a prince.
