After you sate yourself on turkey, and then continue to eat leftovers for three days, you might just want to get out of your Chicago condo… or away from the family. What can you do out on the town of Chicago this weekend, November 27 – 29? Here’s what we found!
Events
After seeing everyone you ever knew in high school on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, you might want to relax on the weekend with a more low key event. Try visiting the Lincoln Park Zoo, which will debut its 2009 Zoolights on the 27th. This year, it’s “bigger, brighter and FREE!”
Of course, as soon as Thanksgiving is over, thoughts turn to Christmastime! The return of the Christkindlmarket to Daley Plaza marks the opening of the holiday season. Regular market hours start on the 27th.
And of course after Thanksgiving, there’s always Black Friday shopping, if you’re brave enough! To help your courage, The 900 Shops are offering a promotional parking fee and a complimentary coat check to lure you out during the holiday season.
Restaurants
If you happen to eat vegan or raw, Thanksgiving might not be your favorite holiday! But the Chicago Diner on Halsted has planned vegan and raw menus that will suit you on this typically carnivorous holiday. Check out their three course menu Thanksgiving menu.
If you want that country club-style dinner but aren’t currently a member anywhere, you might want to check out The Clubhouse in Oakbrook. They are offering “a Thanksgiving feast featuring all of the traditional trimmings plus turducken, a raw bar & decadent dessert display.” Reserve a spot now.
Craving fresh seafood instead of traditional Turkey Day delights? Devon Seafood Grille in Streeterville is offering a succulent prix-fixe menu “focused on superior quality seafood.”
Movies
Of course, the Twilight Saga’s second installment, New Moon is still going strong after last week’s premiere. See what all the fuss is about this weekend while everyone else is still suffering from their food coma.
Disney releases its latest animated feature film, The Princess and The Frog, this weekend. Introduce your young children, nieces or nephews to their first Disney classic film, and extend your holiday family time!
If you happened to miss Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds on the first time around, you can check it out and drink a beer this weekend at the Vic Theater’s Brew & View. See show times here.
Have a happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful weekend!
