The Chicago real estate scene can be intimidating–  Chicago is, after all, the third biggest city in the United States. Most people relocating to the Windy City are coming from smaller cities, usually somewhat significantly smaller ones. And this can be overwhelming, especially to those who don’t quite understand Chicago’s unique neighborhoods.

Luckily, with a little exploration and a little help, anyone can quickly call Chicago “home” and feel comfortable navigating around its memorable architecture and its vibrant buzz of life. Wonderful Chicago real estate isn’t hard to find, so long as you work with a Jameson agent who understands exactly what you’re looking for. The city is a collection of neighborhoods, more than 70 in all, and each one has its own personality.

The best advice we can give, whether searching for Chicago condos, townhomes, or homes for sale, is to take a trip to Chicago before actually moving here. Get a feel for the city, something more than “Oh, the lake’s pretty and somewhere in that general direction”–  a real feel for the different areas. Visit Wicker Park and see the Chicago version of Greenwich Village. Take a walk around the trendy Lincoln Park and spend the day in the great, tree-filled parks found there. Check out the old architecture of historic Kenwood. See the neighborhoods that make this city what it is, and begin to figure out what neighborhood fits you best.

If this all seems complicated, let Jameson come to your rescue!

Our agents specialize in Chicago real estate and understanding the city neighborhood by neighborhood, which means we assess what exactly it is you are looking for, and we help you find the right neighborhood for you. Because that’s one thing that makes Chicago such a fantastic place to live: there are so many exciting communities living side by side, but each one has its own personality. Learning and understanding those differences makes the city come together, both for a newcomer and a long-time Chicago resident.

So don’t be overwhelmed if you are relocating to Chicago. It may seem like a big city, but it’s really a city of small, friendly towns– one of which will be perfect for you!
