Looking for fun festive activities to do this weekend, October 2nd- 4th? Chicago residents, here’s how you can enjoy the crisp fall weather before it gets too cold and you’re stuck inside.
Events
- Head over to Logan Square this Saturday from 2pm to 6pm for a Patio Pig Roast. Stay warm with pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, corn bread and more. Such great fall comfort food.
- If you are super excited to pull out Halloween costume this year, here is your chance. The Kinetic Playground in Uptown is hosting an early Halloween party, check it all out here.
- Saturday and Sunday you can check out the 13th annual Cheesecake Festival. It’s sponsored by Eli’s Cheesecake so you know it’s delicious. Check out the music lineup and directions here.
- Visit the beautiful Long Grove this weekend for their Apple Festival. Nosh on apple pies, cider doughnuts, caramel apples, green-apple popcorn and sip on yummy appletinis.
- Naperville is having its Oktoberfest this weekend at Naper Settlement featuring German food, and lots of beer and wine. Come to the suburbs, Chicago, and celebrate with Naperville!
- If you are planning on staying in the city, check out the Merchandise Mart. The Mart is hosting the International Antiques Fair with over 100 dealers for the U.S. and around the world. $15 will get you into this event.
Restaurants
- Looking to try a new breakfast place in the city? The Original Alps & Pancake House on the North West side has all your breakfast favorites and this re-opened restaurant now seats about 100 so you probably won’t have to wait long for your morning meal.
- If you like chocolate chip pancakes, gummy worms in your pancakes, or just normal pancakes and omelets the Flat Top Grill is the place for you. But you have to get there early breakfast ends at 11AM.
- New contemporary sushi restaurant Blue Ocean just opened in Ravenswood, by reading the menu it sounds delicious and for now it’s BYOB.
Movies
- Funny man Ricky Gervais is starring in The Invention of Lying which opens this Friday. Have you seen the previews? It looks hilarious and has a fantastic cast.
- For the kids and adults check out Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, this flick is also in IMAX.
- Surrogates staring Bruce Wills, if you like futuristic or adventure films this is the movie for you.
