About David
David Salyers began his involvement in Chicago real estate in 1970 when he bought his first three-flat, on Racine Ave., in Lincoln Park. Since then, he has developed and built 34 new-construction single-family and condominium properties in Lincoln Park and has also renovated a number of residential buildings in Lincoln Park and Lakeview. He owns residential and commercial property in Old Town, Lincoln Park, and Lakeview, as well as in Indiana and Michigan.A broker associate with Jameson Real Estate, he has been a licensed Realtor since 1973. Salyers sold more than $100 million in residential property between 2000 and 2007.
Over the years, in addition to his real estate investments, Salyers worked as a magazine editor, wrote a wine column, and was restaurant editor of CHICAGO magazine. He also was director of public relations for "Playboy" magazine for ten years.
After "Playboy," he started a successful marketing communications business that's now operated by a former partner. Between 1987-1992, he competed as a driver in two professional motor-racing endurance series, The Escort Endurance and The Firestone Firehawk Endurance Series.
Salyers was born and raised on a farm, near Lincoln, Illinois, and is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana. He came to Chicago from London, in 1969. Today, he and his wife and a rather portly cat live in Lincoln Park.
